Google Guaranteed

Google is increasingly rolling out their ad carousel to go above the 4 standard ads that are there now. They will come with a badge that says Google Guaranteed so if the person is unhappy with the service they can file a claim that Google will pay.

This will further take away organic traffic.

How much time do you devote to optimizing your clients videos?

Quote:

According to the latest Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI) Complete Forecast, there will be nearly 1.9 billion Internet video users by 2021, up from 1.4 billion in 2016. The world will be watching 3 trillion minutes of Internet video per month by 2021, which is 5 million years of video per month. And video will continue to dominate overall Internet traffic – representing 80% of all Internet traffic by 2021, up from 67% in 2016. Let’s just take another look at those numbers:

Video will represent 80% of all Internet traffic by 2021
There will be nearly 1.9 billion Internet video users by 2021
They’ll be watching 3 trillion minutes of video per month by 2021

Is your or your client’s website on the first page of Google results? What about their videos? If they have a YouTube channel you may be surprised how little effort it takes to get that video on the first page with simple optimization.

UB Metrics and SEO

Most everyone who works in a competitive SEO environment knows Google often takes liberties with the truth (lies) when discussing how their algorithm works, so take this with a grain of salt:

In 2017, the head of Google Brain, Nick Frost, said this at a conference:

Quote:

Google is now integrating machine learning into [the process of figuring out what the relationship between a search and the best page for that search is]. So then training models on when someone clicks on a page and stays on that page, when they go back or when they and trying to figure out exactly on that relationship.

So does this make a strong case for Google using user behavior metrics as ranking signals.

Page Speed, of course it’s a ranking element

As many have said, page speed certainly is a ranking element. Google officially will roll it out this summer but most pros know it has been testing on various servers for quite a while

Things You Must Know!

Here’s a great article by Larry Kim regarding CTR and Rank brain where he says:
Quote:

Here’s the wildest one. At SMX West, Google’s Paul Haahr said Google doesn’t really understand what RankBrain is doing.
If this really smart guy who works at Google doesn’t know what RankBrain does, how in the heck does some random self-proclaimed SEO guru definitively know all the secrets of RankBrain?

Also in the article a Google Engineer lets it out that CTR is indeed a ranking signal.

I’ll make this point again, whether or not you feel CTR is a ranking signal doesn’t matter, you still need to be continually working to improve it!
